Continuing Bonnie’s Legacy Through Opportunity and Education.

Meet Bonnie Kilroy

Bonnie Kilroy was a woman of remarkable determination, generosity, and heart. Born on October 14, 1947, and raised in Middletown, Rhode Island, Bonnie was one of eight children. After graduating from Middletown High School and the University of Rhode Island with a degree in education and mathematics, she embarked on a life filled with creativity, entrepreneurship, and family.
But Bonnie’s greatest accomplishment was never measured in businesses or success.
It was measured in people.
In 1979, Bonnie purchased a small restaurant on Bowen’s Wharf, beginning what would become a lasting family legacy with The Landing Restaurant. In 2012, she expanded that legacy with The Lobster Bar.
Both remain family-owned and operated businesses today.
While Bonnie accomplished much throughout her life, her greatest pride was her family and the people around her. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, mentor, hockey mom, and confidant. She was known for her infectious laugh, generous heart, love of Newport, and always having a candy bar in her pocket or a few dollars for ice cream.
Bonnie believed in family, hard work, opportunity, and giving back. The BonRock Foundation carries those values forward by providing financial aid and scholarships to empower the youth of Aquidneck Island and help create opportunities for the next generation.
Her legacy lives on through the people she loved, the community she helped build,
and the opportunities created in her name.

Bonnie always reminded her family
“We never had it all together, but together we have it all.”
